Choosing your Locksmith, some simple rules.
When you ring for a Locksmith you will get Local or call centre or an out of area number.
If you suspect that you are talking to a call centre rather than a Locksmith or a Locksmith business, my advice is to hang up and have another go at locating a local independentLlocksmith.
If the number starts with the correct dialing code but has not got a 62 for the main number you are dealing with a call centre or out of area Locksmith service, typically these numbers will be 01291 followed by 330
If you ring a national call centre, you have no control over who they send, you are going to pay more, often quite a lot more. By following a few simple checks, you will be able to have the job done by a localLlocksmith, fully qualified and at a reasonable cost.
Almost all the so called Locksmiths employed by call centres are used because they are not qualified and experienced enough to work as independant Locksmiths, remember you are paying by the hour for the first hours work then every 15 minutes after, without experience and knowledge these so called Locksmiths will routinely be extremly slow at working.
Always use a genuine Local Locksmith. Look for a real Local phone number, not a Freephone, or only a Mobile number. Many pretend to be local to get extra work, and use a vague, fabricated address, but if they don’t have a local phone number, you could well be phoning a large National Call Centre (the Yellow Pages is full of them!), who will sub-contract the job out to a Locksmith that could be a considerable distance from you, promising to get to you in 30mins when in fact it could take up to 2 hours or more. Because it’s sub-contracted, you are likely to be paying well in excess of
double the amount of contacting a local Locksmith direct. Some Nationals will even quote an attractive price over the phone. But add hidden extras on sight, such as up to three or four times the retail cost of new locks and parts and inflating the labour costs.
When you phone us, you talk to a local Locksmith, not a telephone operator. Ask if you will be charged if a return trip is required.
Many Locksmiths do not carry a full stock of Locks and other hardware, and may have to return once the part is obtained. Therefore it is important to check if you will be charged for the extra journey and extra work as temporary parts may have to be fitted adding extra costs to your final bill.
Almost all out of town numbers you will be paying twice, once to the franchise holder and once to the franchise, call centres are the same you pay for the call centre and the locksmith who attends all this is diguised in your final bill as one payment.
All call centres will add vat at 20% to the final bill on top of your quote, check this with out of town numbers as well, almost all will add this to your final bill.
CJ Lockmiths are not vat registered, therefore what we quote is what you pay.
All CJ Locksmiths qoutes are fixed, even should we have to return again to complete work you do not pay for a return journey.
